General Notes

The Florida Run is a driving event that covers all the main attractions in Florida in 1 week. A confirmed entry includes the hire of a Ford Mustang.

IT IS NOT A RACE, RALLY OR TIME TRIAL. There are no time constraints or destination arrival deadlines. It is intended primarily to be a fun, social driving experience where like minded petrolheads can get away from it all by driving, dining and telling eachother far fetched stories about their cars, their daily exploits and past adventures and encounters. Couples are welcome as is a casual dress code!

The Price

£4,000 (£2,000 per person) based on 2 drivers sharing accommodation (£3,900 for CD Tour returnees). The price for US residents or anybody not requiring flights is £3,000. A £700 deposit can be paid online or by calling the booking office on 01302 743827.

50% of the balance is due by Friday 22nd of March with the final 50% balance payment due by Friday 24th of May.

Itinerary

Sat 17 August (Heathrow - Miami)
Event registration and participant introductions will take place at the Holiday Inn Heathrow Ariel. A private coach will take us to Terminal 3 for our direct flight to Miami. Arriving at 4.20pm US East Coast Time, participants will have plenty of time to pick up their Mustangs from the airport prior to driving to the Grand Beach Hotel, a luxurious hotel situated along the famous Miami Beach. We will meet in the hotel bar for drinks, excited at the prospect of our 1st day of driving in the US of A!

Sun 18 August (Miami - Key West)
As with every day of the Florida Run, we will start very leisurely, meaning a giant American buffet breakfast followed by a steady 10 – 11am departure. Day 1 will see us drive along the Florida highways all the way to Key West, crossing 47 bridges, the longest of which is the 7 mile bridge, arriving at what Americans describe as paradise on earth, Key West and the superb 5* Casa Marina Waldorf Astoria.

Mon 19 August (Key West)
No driving today as participants get the opportunity to soak up some Florida Sun, tour the Keys or just lounge around by the hotel pool. Nice.

Tue 20 August (Key West - Everglades - Orlando)
Today will see us drive through the Everglades, a fantastic route that sees the landscape change dramatically over only a short distance. Stopping of at the Everglades Safari Park, all participants will get the opportunity to ride an airboat and see the famous alligator show. Highly recommended! Arriving at Orlando by late afternoon, we will meet in the Sheraton hotel bar once more for Margaritas & Dakaris.

Wed 21 August (Orlando)
No driving again today, meaning more Florida Sun! Or take the opportunity to visit Seaworld, Disneyland or Universal - all located close to the Sheraton.

Thu 22 August (Orlando - Cape Canaveral - Daytona - Orlando)
Two things on the agenda today – Cape Canaveral & Daytona. Both being only 70 miles from Orlando means we can visit both in the day, starting with the NASA launch venue in the morning followed by Daytona in the afternoon.

Fri 23 August (Orlando - Miami)
After 3 nights in Orlando we will drive back to Miami, staying once more at the Grand Beach Hotel on Miami beach. Arriving just after lunch, we will get the chance to tour Miami, the beach or simply relax and take a dip in the sea.

Sat 24 August (Miami - Heathrow - Home)
An evening flight means we can spend the day on the beach, by the pool or in the many shops in downtown Miami. Our flight lands at Heathrow midday on Sunday the 25th, after what will have been a fantastic, relaxed road trip of the Sunshine State!
