General Notes

The Riviera Adventure is a driving event that takes in the Route Napoleon and the Col de Turini, as well as Monaco, Rome, the supercar factories of Modena and Paris. It is open to all makes, types and age of car.

IT IS NOT A RACE, RALLY OR TIME TRIAL. There are no time constraints or destination arrival deadlines. It is intended primarily to be a fun, social driving experience where like minded petrolheads can get away from it all by driving, dining and telling each other far fetched stories about their cars, their daily exploits and past adventures and encounters. Couples are welcome as is a casual dress code!

The Price

£3,000 per car (£1,500 per person) based on 2 drivers sharing accommodation (£2,900 for CD Tour returnees).

Itinerary

Sat 22 June (Folkestone - Challes)
The initial meeting and registration will take place at the Holiday Inn, Folkestone. Following a drivers briefing we will drive to the Eurotunnel terminal (5 minutes away) for the channel crossing, followed by a drive south via various superb French motorway roads, to our first evening’s destination, the stunning Chateau des Comtes situated in the hills above Lake Annecy, ideally located at the top of the N85 Route Napoleon. A group dinner prepared by acclaimed chef Pascal Colliat will be enjoyed by all upon arrival.

Sun 23 June (Challes - Route Napoleon - Monaco)
Today will see us drive south of Grenoble and on to what is claimed to be Europe’s finest driving road by both Autocar and Evo magazines - the N85 Route Napoleon. We will wind through the beautiful little French towns of Gap, Sisteron & Digne les Bains prior to a break at Grasse, which will give all drivers a chance to marvel at the route they have just completed. A short drive south and along the magnificent Cote d’Azur and on to Monaco, where we will be arriving mid afternoon and staying at the awesome 5* Fairmont Monte Carlo overlooking the harbour (the hotel is above the infamous Monaco F1 GP tunnel). A swim in the roof top pool will precede drinks in the veranda bar, prior to a tour of Casino square - very nice!

Mon 24 June (Monaco - Col de Turini - Monaco)
We will start the day with a drive around Monaco then up into the hills, driving through Sospel & Valdeblore via the iconic Col de Turini. We will drive over 100 miles of spectacular passes and tunnels used in the Monte Carlo Rally, before heading back down through the mountains for a 2nd night in Monaco.

Tue 25 June (Monaco - Rome)
A great drive out of Monaco heading south with the Cote d’Azur just to our right will see us arrive at the fantastic 5* Aldrovandi Villa Borghese hotel in Rome for around lunch time, giving us the chance to spend the afternoon re-charging our batteries by the hotel pool or to see the sights in what is in our opinion the finest city in Europe.

Wed 26 June (Rome)
No driving today meaning participants will get the chance to see the amazing city of Rome, tour the Coliseum, the Vatican and the Spanish steps. In the evening we will be heading to the city bars to get a taste of the vibrant Italian capital at night.

Thu 27 June (Rome - Maranello - Sant’ Agata - Lake Varese)
Another fantastic drive today as we head north and on to Modena for a tour of the new Enzo Ferrari museum & exclusive factory tour at Lamborghini! Following the tours we will continue with a drive north snaking through central Italy via Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and then finally arriving at the beautiful Lake Varese where we will enjoy a fine 4 course Italian dinner at the Grand Palace hotel.

Fri 28 June (Lake Varese - Paris)
Friday will be spent driving from Lake Varese to Chantilly, located ideally on the northern outskirts of Paris. Arriving late afternoon, we will be staying somewhere quite special - the marvellous Chateau de Montvillargene, the former residence of the Baron of Rothschild. Truly superb.

Sat 29 June (Paris - Home)
A relaxed start will give attendees the opportunity to use the pool or stroll the estate grounds prior to our midday crossing and then home.
